The chip is the same eight-register part in both cases – the NESdev wiki records this explicitly under mapper 243’s Errata: “The SA-150 PCB, denoted by INES Mapper 150, connects the same ASIC differently, changing the meaning of the CHR-bank-related register bits.” Only the bank decode differs; the register file, the $4100/$4101 index/data protocol, the readback, and the four mirroring modes are shared.
